Day Programs
IJC currently runs two Day Programs: a hands-on vocational training program at El’dad Ranch and a life skills program at our Mitchell location. The objective of both of these programs is to achieve community involvement for our participants through meaningful employment. This is accomplished through individualized, person-centred planning, increasing self-esteem, developing job readiness and social skills, learning life skills, and supporting participants in community.
Participants can engage in a variety of activities to learn skills and assess what jobs they would be successful in. Some key areas they work in are:
-
Vehicle maintenance
-
Building maintenance
-
Nutrition
-
Carpentry
-
Gardening
-
Animal care
-
Community projects, such as municipal composting, moving furniture, or painting
By being part of IJC, individuals also gain access to a wide range of events, workshops, and social groups, including our Indigenous Therapeutic Services.
