Indigenous Therapeutic Services

In Cree, the phrase “Mino pimatisiwin” means living the good life.  What does living the good life mean to you? How can we balance the mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual quadrants of our lives?

We encourage everyone to reflect on these questions, not just those who identify as First Nations, Inuit, or Métis.

Recognizing that the majority of the people we support are Indigenous-background, IJC offers culturally-relevant therapeutic activities to all of our participants. Alongside cultural activities and ceremonies, Indigenous elders and Knowledge Keepers work with our Case Management Team to enhance the cultural relevancy of our services.

Our goal is to foster personal and communal healing, especially in the areas of trauma, addiction, and mental health, community cohesion, and an enhanced cultural identity through Indigenous traditions. Since we started offering these services in 2023, we have seen how transformative this culturally-relevant approach can be on the lives of our participants and we hope to only expand what we can offer.
